We did not order this item from Amazon but this is the exact cage we kept our guinea pigs in for several years. It is spacious, well-designed, and safe enough for children to use (our child was about 11 at the time). (No pinched fingers, etc.) Because it's large, it can be unwieldy to carry, though not exactly heavy. Our child was able to separate the wire top from the tray, leave the piggie in the room and take the tray out to be cleaned, dried, and put fresh bedding into, then hook the tray back up to the wire cage part and good to go.The top opens like a lid, also latches closed, and there's a smaller side door as well. So while it wasn't convenient for our short child to lift the pig reaching in from the top (the pigs don't much like that anyhow), the side door worked fine for that purpose though it's much smaller. The latching mechanism on the side door is also easier to manage, esp. if you have smaller fingers/less hand strength. We bought the cart, too,... Read more |
